Position Summary :
The Coordinated Entry Intern will assist in assessing and referring clients telephonically and in person at in-reach sites within the Coordinated Entry (CE) system for Milwaukee County. Coordinated Entry is the system by which those in need of homeless services are prioritized into and through the homeless services system. Interns will work with the Coordinated Entry team and will be supervised by the Coordinated Entry Manager.
Responsibilities :
- Triage clients current living situation based on the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines in coordination with local funding and Continuum of Care (CoC) eligibility requirements.
- Provide assessments, problem solving, information and referral, and crisis intervention, when necessary, in an empathetic and nonjudgmental manner
- Assist clients in developing an action plan within the scope of family, health, and social services that appropriately meets their needs.
- Accurately document customer contacts in a computerized database and other means.
- Provide advocacy for clients and their households experiencing difficulties or lacking in abilities needed to make effective contacts with agencies, programs or groups.
- Participate in ongoing IMPACT and CE training and staff meetings.
- Participate in CoC event planning for events such as Project Homeless Connect
- Responsible for protecting client confidentiality, adhering to all state / federal laws and regulations and HIPAA requirements.
- Actively participate in and support the organization's initiatives.

Enrolled in an Associates or Bachelor's in Human Services or Social Work program.Experience working with people experiencing homelessness strongly preferred.Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as HMISReside in the State of Wisconsin and within 50 miles of IMPACT.Pay & Benefits :
