Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother Baby unit in California with required CA RN license and advanced certifications including ACLS and NRP.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care setting on the Labor and Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), and Mother / Baby unit
  • Units include 8 L&D beds (with 6 overflow), 7 triage beds, and 40 postpartum beds, with approximately 1800-2000 births per year
  • Patient population includes standard labor, multiples, high-risk, vacuum, and VBAC cases
  • Staffing ratios : L&D 1 : 2 labor, 1 : 1 delivery, 1 : 3 triage; Mother / Baby and PP 1 : 4 couplets
  • C-section circulating required
  • Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience required
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
  • First to float, primarily floating to Postpartum
  • No on-call requirement, but optional availability
  • Holiday coverage rotates with core staff
  • Scrubs provided for L&D; navy scrubs required for Mother / Baby and PP
  • Provide comprehensive care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns including support for high-risk deliveries and VBACs
  • Support team includes charge nurse (who may take assignments), OB techs for C-sections, 24-hour in-house laborist, anesthesia, and neonatologist
  • Floor-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Must be able to work rotating holidays with the core staff team
  • Scrub color requirements vary by unit
  • No local radius restrictions specified for CA; local rates may apply
  • No previous direct employment by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

    • Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery or Mother / Baby RN experience required
  • Current certifications required : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
  • Must have experience circulating C-sections
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • References required : one supervisor reference within last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
