Simulation Modeling Engineer

360 Rail Services is looking for a self-motivated, driven individual to join us in the exciting field of modeling and simulating the logistics and operations of America's railroads. While this is an entry-level position, qualified candidates will show an eagerness to learn and advance within the company from the ground up. Experience in the rail industry is preferred but not required.

Position Overview
As a Simulation Modeling Engineer, you will develop discrete event and agent-based simulations of rail operations and logistics. You will be Updating existing models based on feedback and use simulations to generate usable data which will be used to identify bottle necks and influence business decisions. You will collaborate with customers and project managers frequently to ensure models are up to date and operating according to specifications. Successful candidates will possess advanced analytical and technical expertise, strong collaborative and execution capabilities, excellent communication skills, a practical and flexible mindset and high attention to detail and work quality.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with project stakeholders to identify business needs and gather requirements for modeling and optimizing business and organizational processes
- Collaborate with project team members to write prioritized business requirements documentation, including scope definition and statement of work
- Collaborate with project team members to gather, assess, organize, and document business and organizational process components, data, and variables for modeling & optimization
- Build mathematical or simulation models of business / organizational processes
- Document and make changes to developed models as needed
- Execute scenario analysis to provide case teams and clients with guidance on process options and variability
- Provide quick-response support to case teams on subject matter expertise via a central request portal
- Occasional travel, dependent on project requirements
- Deliver highest-quality work product both within team and to case team / customers
- Perform internal team projects and duties as assigned or required, gather information, perform assessments and studies, document model results, identify emerging areas of opportunity and execute day-to-day support activities
- Design and develop models that simulate the operations and logistics of clients
- Assist in making recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication, which describe the capabilities and bottle necks of project scope
- Run Monte Carlo simulations and parameter variations to create production runs and generate usable data for clients
- Communicate effectively with client and team to identify and solve problems

Job Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM fieldFluency with at least one coding language - Java, C++, Python, Ruby, or other Object-Oriented LanguagesExperience with agent-based, discrete event or systems dynamics modeling techniquesAbility to pass pre-employment background checkEnthusiastic desire to learnPreferred :
