About the Role
Under the direction of the Community Teen Director, the Teen Leadership Manager is responsible for the effective operation of assigned programs. This role delivers teen leadership programming, Togetherhood Initiatives, and Teen Center engagement, ensuring outstanding services to members, volunteers, and participants. The position is grant funded and contingent on achieving desired outcomes and securing ongoing grant funding.
Essential Functions
- Model inclusive behaviors and embrace all dimensions of diversity.
- Support service line / department in working toward association-level objectives measured by identified KPIs.
- Participate in the budgeting process and steward association resources.
- Know, understand, and abide by all YMCA of WNC Youth Development programs, policies, and procedures.
- Engage and lead dynamic teen engagement efforts, including Togetherhood and other initiatives.
- Coordinate partnerships with volunteer sponsors and maintain agreement standards.
- Lead weekly Teen clubs and activities such as Leaders Club.
- Lead conference opportunities for teens including Youth in Government, Leaders School, Model UN, Summer of Service.
- Lead teen service learning and volunteer engagement events throughout the region as needed.
- Assist in developing and writing grant applications.
- Travel to each center and facilitate teen focus groups and programs.
- Represent the YMCA of WNC at community events tailored to youth and teens.
- Perform daily office work such as filing, copying, and record keeping.
- Lead by example and work collaboratively with fellow YMCA staff.
- Perform all other duties as required.
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.Three or more years' experience working with older youth, community engagement and outreach, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.CPR and First Aid certification, and Youth Mental Health First Aid within 90 days of hire.Clean driving record and willingness to drive a mini-bus on a regular basis.Basic computer literacy and use of related technology for communication, scheduling, and reporting.Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of children of all ages, their behavior, and development, and ability to use this knowledge as a resource with staff.Specific knowledge in the development of age-appropriate curriculum activities, use of appropriate behavior management techniques, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to staff.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.Organizational skills related to handling documents and associated paperwork.Ability to provide leadership in accordance with the YMCA mission to other YMCA site staff.Professional demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills.Physical Aspects of the Job
Must be able to stand or be active for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift 35 pounds.Must be able to clearly see, hear, and speak.Must be able to solve, reason, make decisions, and use sound judgment when distracted by noise and activity.Benefits
