Believer Meats is an innovative start-up revolutionizing the food industry through the development and commercialization of cultivated meat products. Leveraging cutting-edge biotechnology, we aim to provide sustainable, ethical, and high-quality meat alternatives to consumers worldwide. As we near completion of a new plant and prepare for commercialization, we are seeking multiple experienced candidates to join our Boiler Technician team.

Summary

The Boiler Technician will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and maintenance of various facility-related systems and equipment at Believer Meats new cultivated meat plant. This includes Boilers, Air Compressors, and accompanying equipment, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and general building upkeep. This role performs preventative maintenance, does regular inspections, and documents activities as needed. The Boiler technician will work collaboratively across departments and contribute to the Believers commitment to safety and quality.

Benefits : This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) role eligible for generous benefits including PTO, Health Care, Retirement with company match, and Parental and Medical Leaves (subject to company policies including eligibility and waiting periods).

Schedule : This will be a dayshift, weekday role during the training and orientation process. Afterwards the technician can expect to work a rotating, nightshift schedule including some weekday and some weekend work.

Please note : This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must be located in the Wilson, North Carolina area or be willing to relocate at their own expense. Additionally, visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.

Your Day-to-Day

Boilers

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of boiler systems including DA Tank and water softeners to ensure reliable and efficient steam production.

Air Compressors

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of Air Compressors and Air Dryer.

    • Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure proper operation.

    • Building Upkeep

  • Assist with general building maintenance and repairs, including electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Ensure the facility is well-maintained and meets all safety and regulatory standards.

    • Safety

  • Must consistently follow all safety and food safety protocols, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. This includes properly using personal protective equipment (PPE), identifying and reporting potential hazards, and actively participating in safety training and initiatives. A commitment to maintaining a culture of safety and minimizing risks to yourself and your colleagues is essential.

    • Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in boiler facilities maintenance, preferably in the biotech or food manufacturing environment.We are seeking a Boiler Technician with demonstrated experience performing quality work, taking initiative, and developing expertise with a variety of systems. The incumbent will have a combination of skills, education, and skills that demonstrate the ability to fulfill all aspects of this job description.

  • Strong knowledge of natural gas boiler systems, Water Softeners,industrial air compressors, Air Dryers, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), plumbing, and general building maintenance.
  • Industrial electrical experience preferred (control voltage, 120v, 240v, 480v)
  • Ability to obtain Industrial Lift Operator certificate.
  • Willingness to serve on the facility HazMat response team if needed (training provided).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • OSHA 10 (preferred)
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts of up to 12 hours.
  • Awareness of good manufacturing processes (GMP) for the food industry.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, company and equipment software).
  • Authorized to work in the US (Believer is an E-Verify participant).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background screening, drug test, and physical.

  • Mobility : Ability to move around manufacturing facilities, including navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces. Must be able to access confined spaces and work in tight areas as required.
  • Manual Dexterity : Proficiency in using hand and power tools for maintenance and repairs. Ability to manipulate small components and perform intricate tasks.
  • Physical Endurance : Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended periods. Able to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment or materials as needed.
  • Visual and Auditory Acuity : Must have keen eyesight and hearing to identify potential safety hazards and diagnose equipment issues. Ability to distinguish colors and operate machinery with visual indicators.
  • Lifting and Carrying : Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Proficient in using appropriate lifting techniques to prevent injury.
