Job Summary
Fulfills classroom duties while following a fast-tracked educational route to qualifying for and obtaining a VDOE teaching license; under general supervision from a school-based administrator and teacher mentor, plans and provides relevant learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning, designated curriculum, effective and engaging strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students; provides a respectful, positive, safe, student-centered learning environment that considers the developmental needs of students; collaborates with colleagues / administrators / families and participates in professional growth activities that result in enhanced student academic achievement. The Associate Teacher is a non-licensed employee who commits to working on the requirements for a Virginia teaching license during the one-year employment period.

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer and other technological devices; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
