Forklift Operator in Portland, TN
As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for efficiently pulling orders for shipment to customers, managing shipping functions such as Direct Ship Ports and Truck Load Reports, and moving parts between Market Areas and Assembly Lines. Your role will also involve supplying presses with containers and moving stampings, as well as managing trailers using a switcher truck.
Responsibilities
- Observe and follow company rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment.
- Implement 5S to maintain a satisfactory work area.
- Conduct safety checks for towmotor start-up daily and perform dock / platform inspections before use.
- Engage dock locks before entering trailers and follow refueling procedures at all times.
- Inspect racks for damage during unloading and ensure cleanliness.
- Stage shipments correctly and inspect for any damage or improper adjustments.
- Ensure no parts protrude above racks before moving them.
- Inspect trailers for debris or damage before loading.
- Pack service parts carefully to prevent damage during transport, following packaging instructions.
- Ensure barcode labels match part numbers and are in good condition for scanning.
- Follow FIFO order for shipment staging and maintain proper flow on the Kanban Master Board.
- Support company goals and provide input for reducing line downtime due to material handling issues.
- Maintain towmotor equipment and practice proper material handling.
- Be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Report production activities accurately and follow EH Board rules.
- Lead by example in attendance, quality, and accountability.
- Perform a variety of duties, adapting to changing priorities efficiently.
Essential Skills
Forklift, picking, RF scanner, packing, and tow motor experience.Sit down forklift experience.3-4 years experience in a manufacturing environment.Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.Basic math knowledge.Good verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organization and coordination skills.Successful completion of tow motor training and certification prior to job move.Experience in material handling, loading, shipping and receiving, and order picking.Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.Ability to work night shifts from 3 : 00pm to 1 : 45am, or 5 : 00pm to 1 : 45am.Ability to adapt to changing priorities without loss of efficiency or composure.Why Work Here?

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.85 / hr.
