Responsibilities :

This position is responsible for “Creating Raving Fans” by coordinating, verifying, distributing, and managing all referral services to provide a smooth process for our patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Mastered basic job duties and completed competencies.
  • Competent in EHR.
  • Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
  • Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals.
  • Assemble information concerning patient’s clinical background, referral needs, and provide appropriate clinical information to specialist.
  • Act as a point of contact for patients with questions and / or concerns related to regards to referrals and authorizations required.
  • Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
  • Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met. Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis, as requested / required.
  • Proficient working in at least one of the following : Referral Consults, Referral Ancillary, Authorizations, Diagnostics, and Non-TVH.
  • Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner meeting or exceeding department benchmark.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Education / Experience Requirements :

  • High school diploma. Associate’s degree from a community / junior college preferred or medical assistant certification completion.
  • 0-12 months of TVH Experience
  • Knowledge of billing practices and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of coding and clinic operating policies.
  • Proficient skills in computer programs.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to take and follow through with tasks and responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret medical charts.
  • Ability to examine documents for information necessary for referrals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with others.

    • Salary is commensurate with experience.
