Job Details

  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced ICU nurse for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 3 full years of experience, 6 months to 1 year of ICU Burn experience.

    • Job Requirements

  • Active BLS certification
  • Active ACLS certification
  • Active PALS certification
  • Active California License
  • 1 year of burn experience in a burn unit
  • CERNER experience required
  • Travel experience required

    • Schedule Information

  • Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend
  • Holidays : 2 out of 3 holidays
  • Shifts : 6a, 6p
  • Floating : Yes, PICU, peds or adult ICU

    • Unit Specific Information

  • Floor specific orientation : 2 shifts in burn unit, 1 shift PICU or ICU and 1 shift peds
  • Critical care RNs (ED / ICUs / PICU) will have more than just the basic interpretation test (like those included in the STEMI curriculum and Procedural Sedation curriculum assigned to them).

  • Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation.
  • Unit : Burn Unit
  • # beds : 7-adult and peds (average daily census 4)
  • Ratios : 1 to 2 (treated as an ICU)
  • EMR : Cerner
  • Charge Nurse : Yes
  • Nurse Aides : No have a burn tech (not on every shift); assist w / hydrotherapy and dressing changes
  • Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Primary burns (ICU level to med surg level) for adults and children
  • Additional Notes : A minimum of 6 months to 1 year experience in a burn ICU; Nights, EOW, first to float
