Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER) Travel Position

Location : Rochester, NY

Job Type : Travel Contract

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 3×12 Rotating (Days / Nights – Variable Shifts)

Start Date : November 18, 2025

Pay : $2,187 / week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Rochester, NY. The ER RN will provide expert, compassionate care to patients presenting with life-threatening injuries and acute medical conditions. This role requires strong critical thinking, rapid assessment skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Epic EMR, experienced in managing trauma and neuro-emergencies, and ready to start in November 2025. Holiday availability is required, and candidates must hold a valid New York RN license in hand at the time of submission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and assess patients in accordance with emergency department protocols, determining acuity and priority of care.
  • Deliver direct nursing care for a broad range of emergency and trauma-related conditions in a Level II trauma environment.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products as prescribed, and monitor patients’ responses.
  • Manage arterial and central lines, ventilated patients, procedural sedation, and IV vasopressors.
  • Interpret and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and neurological emergencies (CVA, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury).
  • Perform rapid interventions for STEMI, sepsis, respiratory failure, and traumatic injuries.
  • Utilize and document all care accurately within the Epic EMR system.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Float as required to other units within the emergency and critical care departments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and emergency preparedness standards.

Qualifications

  • Active New York State RN license (required prior to submission).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience (Level I or Level II trauma preferred).
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC preferred.
  • Proficiency in Epic EMR (required).
  • Demonstrated expertise in triage, IV therapy, ventilated patient management, and procedural sedation.
  • Experience with neuro-trauma, orthopedic trauma, and cardiovascular emergencies preferred.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test (if required by facility).
  • Must be available for holidays and able to work rotating day / night shifts.
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted).
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills.
