Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Senior Environmental Scientist – Nuclear Licensing (3678). This is a corporate remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to provide environmental and regulatory support for nuclear licensing projects. This role involves leading environmental reviews and documentation in compliance with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licensing process and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of NEPA environmental reviews, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA), to support nuclear licensing applications and regulatory approvals.
- Analyze environmental data and project information to evaluate potential impacts to air, water, land, ecological, cultural, and socioeconomic resources.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation that comply with NRC, DOE, and other federal regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, regulatory specialists, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance throughout the licensing process.
- Support public involvement activities, including stakeholder meetings, hearings, and comment response development.
- Ensure quality assurance and technical accuracy in environmental deliverables and documentation.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or related field (Master’s preferred).Minimum 8+ years of experience conducting NEPA assessments and preparing environmental documentation for complex federal projects, preferably related to nuclear facilities or energy infrastructure.Proven experience developing EIS and EA documents to support NRC licensing actions.Knowledge of NRC, DOE, and other federal environmental regulations and processes.Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting NRC Part 50 or Part 52 licensing actions.Experience with advanced nuclear technologies or environmental permitting for DOE or commercial nuclear projects.Familiarity with radiological impact assessments and cumulative impact analysis.Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PWS, QEP) or advanced degrees.Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and / or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
