Responsibilities Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) within a hospital setting Unit is a gold Beacon Award-winning referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina Typical patient population includes children with congenital heart disease and those requiring cardiac surgery, VAD, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and other complex cardiac care Average daily census is 26, with patients of any age based on care needs Assignments are 13 weeks in length Shift is 3x12 hours on a rotating schedule, including both day (7a-7 : 30p) and night (7p-7 : 30a) shifts Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule; holiday rotation required Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2, based on acuity All beds are monitored and utilize advanced therapies including ECMO and CRRT Epic is the charting system used Floating within scope to meet unit needs is required Care for pediatric patients with complex cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses Perform advanced therapies including ventilatory and cardiac support, ECMO, CRRT, and pediatric palliative care as needed Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, technicians, secretaries, respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists Holiday coverage is part of the expectation Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion First-time travelers are accepted for this role All required pre-start training modules must be completed prior to assignment start Travel pairs are not accepted on this unit Travelers may only be submitted to one unit or campus at a time During hurricane season (June-November), all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams Requirements Active SC or compact RN license required at time of reporting; pending accepted if process is underway Minimum 2 years' experience in pediatric cardiac ICU required Pediatric cardiovascular and pediatric experience required Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience highly preferred Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred and must be AHA Must provide SSN and driver’s license for consideration Experience with Epic charting system preferred Previous perm staff / PRN must be separated from health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a reduced rate Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-612798.
