Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with a passion for providing high-quality veterinary services. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to ensure the health and well-being of animals in our care, performing various clinical tasks, and assisting in surgical procedures.
- Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results, including blood work and urinalysis
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed
- Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals, monitoring their condition and vital signs
- Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and when handling specimens
- Conduct dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures using veterinary terminology
- Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations, treatments, or procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care
- Educate pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care
- Participate in the training of new staff members or interns as needed
- Experience
Candidates should have prior experience in a veterinary setting with the following skills preferred :
- Veterinary technician experience with a solid understanding of animal anatomy and physiology
- Experience in veterinary critical care, including emergency response protocols
- Knowledge of kennel operations and dog handling techniques
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary diagnostics
- Proficiency in animal catheterization, restraint techniques
