Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.
The Manufacturing Engineering Packaging Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing packaging solutions for our products. The role requires a strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective packaging of products.
This role will be located onsite at our Fuquay-Varina, NC facility.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of packaging solutions that meet product, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
- Creation of technical drawings and specifications.
- Creation of CAD models and analysis of designs for packaging.
- Developing process improvements for packaging in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Testing and validation of packaging.
- Developing solutions for sustainability requirements in line with regulations and business needs.
- Provide training and support to manufacturing teams.
- Work closely with stakeholders to implement improvements to reduce costs and standardize packaging.
- Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with occasional office work.
- May require occasional travel to meet with suppliers, customers, or attend training sessions.
- Collaborate with sales, product management, manufacturing, production, and quality teams to optimize packaging processes.
- Analyze and improve existing packaging processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new packaging designs and materials.
- Oversee the prototyping and testing of new packaging solutions to ensure they meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Conduct tests to evaluate the durability and functionality of packaging materials and designs.
- Make necessary adjustments based on testing results and feedback.
- Develop and implement sustainable packaging solutions to reduce environmental impact.
- Participate in safety reviews and risk assessments related to packaging.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans for packaging.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address any quality-related issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to packaging and manufacturing processes.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive process improvements.
- Suggest and implement innovative solutions to improve packaging efficiency and product protection.
- Provide training and support to production operators on proper use and handling of packaging materials and equipment.
- Ensure all personnel follow safety and operational guidelines related to packaging.
- Assist in the onboarding of new employees and continuous training of existing staff.
- Deliver improvements that reduce costs and improve KPIs.
- Develop training guidelines for packaging requirements and correct use.
Background Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and 2+ years relevant experience.Experience as a Packaging Engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.Understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control systems.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other relevant design tools.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to packaging.Knowledge of sustainable packaging practices and materials.Knowledge of ERP systems and their role in manufacturing operations.Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience : $84,3000 - $126,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
