Job Description

The manufacturing packaging engineer will support all aspects of production packaging systems, with an emphasis on continuous improvement of manufacturing and packaging effectiveness. Will develop and complete documentation of sustainable processes and support maintenance of the technical library.

Responsibilities Include

  • Implement new packaging technology into assigned equipment.
  • Study, evaluate, develop, implement, test, and recommend changes to new technology through the implementation stage.
  • Analyze production data from various sources to identify opportunities for productivity and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with Dairy Based Production Engineering, R&D, and Quality Departments on packaging improvements.
  • Analyze performance trends and create KPI indicators to ensure timely completion; analyze line losses and asset / utilization rates.
  • Support production processes by seeking opportunities for improvement in materials usage, yield, labor utilization, and line processes.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues by identifying root causes and implementing solutions.

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Collect and analyze production data, including system data, to identify trends and create KPI indicators.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and verify compliance with standards.

    • Project Management

  • Manage projects related to continuous improvement initiatives within assigned technologies.
  • Validate line change requests to ensure proper documentation and validation prior to implementation.

    • Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to specific product lines, ensuring root causes are properly identified.

    • Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing technical expertise and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    • MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with packaging engineering systems in automated packaging processes, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience with engineering packaging processes.
  • Continuous improvement experience.

    • NICE TO HAVE

  • Master's degree.
  • Project management experience.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certifications and experience.

    • Pay And Benefits

    The pay range is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. Benefits are fully covered by the employer. The position is hybrid, based in Wooster, OH, with relocation assistance available.
