SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Curriculum is a member of the Member Competency & Learning (MC&L) team and is responsible for the strategic leadership, design, and quality of multiple IIA learning product lines, including instructor-led training, Canadian Learning, and US Chapter Learning. This role ensures that IIA learning offerings serve a global audience of internal audit professionals (including those focused on GRC, risk management, Quality Reviews and other specializations) while also supporting the unique needs of regional and chapter-level learning programs. The Senior Manager provides strategic direction, oversight of curriculum design, ensures content quality and global applicability, and drives innovation across product development / design as well as delivery across multiple channels.

The position supervises a team of professionals, including Manager, Canadian Learning; Manager, Chapter Learning; and Curriculum Quality Specialists. The Senior Manager partners with internal teams (e.g., Learning Operations, IT, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service), external subject matter experts, and industry partners to deliver high-quality, scalable training solutions that align with the IIA portfolio strategy, member professional needs, industry trends, the IIA competency framework, and IIA organizational goals. This role is a key part of MC&L strategic planning, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement to strengthen learning opportunities at both the enterprise and chapter levels.

As a working manager, this role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on contributions, including direct curriculum development, management reviews, and active engagement with SME authors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight for Instructor-Led Training, Canadian Learning, and Chapter Learning curriculum development and product line management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and global standards.
  • Integrate chapter and Canadian learning needs into the broader IIA learning strategy to ensure a consistent learner experience, branding, and quality.
  • Champion innovation in curriculum development, driving scalable, engaging, technology-enabled solutions that address both current and future needs of the internal audit profession and deliver a positive user experience
  • Monitor business, learning, technology and Internal Audit trends to ensure curriculum content remains timely, relevant, and forward-looking.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Lead a diverse team of learning and development professionals; coach and mentor to support professional development, collaboration, and achievement of goals.
  • Partner with internal teams, chapter leaders, Canadian stakeholders and external industry partners to adapt and maintain programs that address regional and chapter-specific needs while supporting the global competency framework.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales functions to ensure property marketing and sales support to the learning products in order to meet revenue goals.
  • Curriculum Development & Quality Assurance

  • Direct the curriculum lifecycle from design and piloting through evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a working manager by contributing directly to curriculum development, conducting management reviews, and overseeing SME authors to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Design / refine mechanisms to measure learner feedback and experience; incorporate learner feedback and data, industry insights, and emerging technologies (including AI-driven tools) to strengthen learning solutions.
  • Ensure all offerings comply with NASBA CPE and IIA CPE standards and internal policies.
  • Performa data analysis and reporting to support business management of the product lines.
  • Financial & Operational Management

  • Manage financial performance and budgets in partnership with Finance and senior leadership, ensuring financial stewardship and alignment with growth objectives.
  • Apply project management principles to deliver high-quality programs on time and within scope.
  • Provide leadership with timely updates through communications, dashboards, and metrics.
  • Ensure Learning Operations is aligned with product delivery expectations; troubleshoot with Learning operation as needed.
  • Coordinate with Event Management team for in-person offerings.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has direct management responsibilities over Curriculum Quality Specialists, Manager, Canadian Learning and Manger, Chapter Learning.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have :

  • Ability to set strategy and oversee execution for multiple product lines simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and learner needs.
  • Demonstrated skill in balancing curriculum development with the need for global consistency while enabling local customization and relevance.
  • Experience leading budget planning, financial oversight, and forecasting across diverse learning programs or portfolios.
  • Preferred background in directing professional learning at the chapter or regional level, with awareness of cultural, geographic, and organizational differences.
  • Track record of guiding internal curriculum teams and contracting / managing SMEs to produce clear, consistent, and high-quality content and communications, including coaching on effective verbal and written practices.
  • Experience overseeing the design and quality assurance of assessments, learning objectives, and instructional content utilizing Bloom’s Taxonomy, ensuring alignment with competency frameworks and organizational standards.
  • Successful history of managing complex programs and projects, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and deliver results across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and expertise in reviewing, editing, and enforcing style and quality standards across a broad portfolio of learning products.
  • Capacity to maintain a global perspective when directing projects, while also ensuring applicability to local markets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; SmartSheet experience preferred; working knowledge of AI-enabled tools and capabilities preferred.

    Education and / or Experience

    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in curriculum development, education, internal audit, or other related field and 5+ years of experience in curriculum development, project management and previous people management experience. Association experience a plus.

  • 5+ years of proven curriculum content development, including leadership experience.
  • Strong program / project management skills with an emphasis on project execution.
  • Must be self-motivated, well organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work with data, evaluation metrics and details.
  • Language Skills

    Effective written, verbal, presentation development, and interpersonal communications skills as well as strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret facilitator feedback that will be transformed into meaningful presentations. Ability to write business correspondence and work with IT and other staff professionals is required. A complete command of the English language, including grammar skills.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively propose and execute solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical, or diagram form, and create tangible representations of several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills

    Expert ability to work in a computerized environment with a strong knowledge of most Microsoft Office products and Smart Sheets. Must have an aptitude to learn new software tools relating to project and content management.

    Other Skills and Abilities

    Must have excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills, team orientation, and strong interpersonal skills. Able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
