About The Position

Description :

Unit is located on the 4th floor with a focus on providing patient care in a stepdown setting.

A typical RN ratio on the unit is 1 : 4 for both days and nights.

The unit accommodates a variety of patient populations including adults and very rarely pediatrics.

Common patient diagnoses include CVA, TIA, shortness of breath, COVID, subdural hematoma, and weakness.

Common drips and medications used in this unit include PCA pumps for pain management, cardizem, and insulin.

The unit has a total of 55 beds available for patient care.

Nursing assistants and charge nurses provide support to the registered nurses on the unit.

There are mechanical lifts available in every other room for patient handling.

The unit emphasizes hourly rounding and responsiveness for improved patient experience.

Candidates should possess qualities that foster teamwork and collaboration among staff.

Registered nurses must pass an open book exam during orientation to demonstrate understanding of skills learned.

Artificial nails are not permitted, and compliance is mandatory for continued employment.

The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as outlined in staffing policies.

Additional unit support is provided by care managers, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.

Floating to medical-surgical areas may be required based on need.
