Essential Job Functions :
- Provide supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout food service
- Assist the Chef with overseeing, monitoring kitchen activities, expediting orders to ensure quality taste or presentation and taking on additional responsibilities in the Chef’s absence to ensure that kitchen staff has proper direction
- Ability to lead a kitchen team is very important in this role
- Oversee food preparation and cooking of the restaurant and help with training of new kitchen staff
- Prepare meals and food to meet the specification of guests in a timely manner
- Ensure kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
- Maintain the kitchen inventory and ensure supplies are fresh and of high quality
- Ensure the kitchen team utilizes the proper food temperatures when cooking and use proper storage procedures
- Oversee the cleanliness of work stations and kitchen equipment and ensure organization and sanitation standards
- Informs front of house personnel of menu changes, specials and shortages
- Taking charge of Kitchen opening and / or closing and other duties as directed by the Chef, and General Manager
Qualifications / requirements :
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are extremely importantExperience leading a kitchen team with a history of strong resultsComfortable in a high-volume / fast-paced environment with strong communication skillsA positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with other staffEffective oral communication in English, Spanish and or French is a plus
