Cable Technician

We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This role supports mission-critical systems and requires strong technical knowledge, flexibility for shift work, and the ability to work in a high-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities :

The Cable Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting copper core and fiber-optic cable systems that support command, control, communications, and computer systems. This position requires supporting 24x7 operations on a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Typical Duties Include :

• Install and maintain underground, buried, copper core, and fiber-optic cables.
• Plan, maintain, and install all cable and communication conveyance systems.
• Process formal customer requests and develop technical solutions.
• Maintain accurate cable installation records and schematics in the database.
• Perform configuration control for all communications cables and conveyances.
• Resolve project installation and maintenance issues using drawings, directives, and technical orders.
• Conduct system tests to assess cable capabilities and serviceability.
• Coordinate operations with other teams and stakeholders.
• Inspect and evaluate cable installation and maintenance work.
• Process work clearance requests and locate / mark underground communication cables.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools, test equipment, and vehicles.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace fiber optics, transceivers, multiplexers, and modems.
• Maintain knowledge of mechanical and fusion fiber optic splices / connectors.
• May require operating motor vehicles.
