Summary :
The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for operations. This includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing procurement processes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures.
- Direct and coordinate personnel involved in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Identify and evaluate vendors, negotiating contracts and terms of sales.
- Ensure purchase orders and contracts comply with company policies.
- Represent the company in supplier negotiations and policy formulation.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience (Required) :
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.10+ years of relevant experience (not all must be in purchasing).Experience in cross-functional roles such as Logistics, Engineering, and Operations Management.Technical Skills (Required) :
Experience negotiating with suppliers.Ability to read engineering prints and specifications for sourcing activities.Experience leading cross-functional meetings.Technical Skills (Preferred) :
CPSM, CPPM, or CPP certification.Experience in the electrification and electric drive industries.Soft Skills (Required) :
Strong verbal and written communication skills.Attention to detail and analytical skills.Knowledge of supply chain management and applicable purchasing regulations.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to take meeting notes and document key takeaways effectively.Position Overview & Work Environment
Position’s Contributions & Business Need :
This role supports an expanding category within the Electric Drive segment of the Electrification Division.The Buyer will lead sourcing strategies, RFI / RFQ activities, and supplier evaluations to support early sourcing for new product development .The role was added due to a significant expansion of procurement needs within this category.Typical Day in the Role :
Leading and documenting category sourcing strategies.Completing purchase part sourcing matrix (RFI, RFQ, QCLDM audits, Pugh matrix, etc.).Managing supplier relationships, including leading negotiations and addressing supplier issues.Collaborating with other buyers and frequently interacting with the engineering team.Working in the Mossville AC office building , where most of the team is co-located.Disqualifiers / Red Flags :
Lack of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement-related roles.No experience in supplier negotiations or contract management.Limited experience in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word).
