Medical Physicist Job Description
We are seeking a Board Eligible / Board Certified Medical Physicist with a passion for providing team-based, collaborative care and treatment in an accredited cancer program.
📋 Role Summary & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide safe therapeutic radiological physics to the Radiation Oncology Department. This involves ensuring equipment safety, quality patient care, and participating in teaching in accordance with regulatory agencies and medical community standards.
Key responsibilities include :
- Calibration and commissioning of linear accelerators and other radiation sources.
- Performing quality assurance (QA) of equipment and treatment plans (patient-specific QA, chart QA, linear accelerator QA, plan checks).
- Implementing new technologies as needed.
- Participating in treatment procedures and providing additional support to Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and therapists.
💡 Practice Setting & Technology
Setting : Clinic.Schedule : Full-time (40 hours per week).On-call schedule / ratio : 1 : 2.Weekend schedule : No weekends.Patient Volume : Approximately 35 patients are treated daily on two machines.Treatment Techniques Offered : SRS, SBRT, IMRT, DIBH, gating, SGRT, and 3D Conformal.Equipment : The facility utilizes two linear accelerators, with Aria for Record and Verify, and Eclipse and Tomoplan software for planning.Team : The department includes Physicists, Dosimetrists, Radiation Therapists, RNs, and a full support staff (Office Secretaries, Billing and Coding Coordinator, Social Worker, Office Manager).Qualifications & Requirements
Education : MS or PhD in Radiology / Radiological Sciences.Certification : Must be TRULY US Board Eligible (with plans to become Board Certified) or Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP). Will consider candidates graduating from residency in 2025 who will be Board Eligible upon completion.Licensure : Must be or be willing to become registered in the state as a Radiation Therapy Physicist, and hold a state license (or be willing to obtain one).Other Requirements : A good work ethic and ability to work well in a team environment are highly valued.
