Technical Delivery Lead (Data Engineering & Vendor Oversight) – Hybrid in Denver, Philadelphia or Cedar Rapids
About the role
The Data Engineering Technical Delivery Lead role combines hands-on technical work with oversight to influence strategic vendors delivering projects. The role focuses on designing and developing modern architectures to enable data-driven digital business across the enterprise, defining data strategies, growing capabilities, and guiding architectural and design decisions for the enterprise data platform.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with other engineers, data scientists, analytics teams, scrum masters and business product owners in an agile environment.
- Architect, build and support the operation of cloud and on-premises enterprise data infrastructure and tools.
- Design robust, reusable and scalable data-driven solutions and data pipeline frameworks to automate ingestion, processing and delivery of structured and unstructured batch and real-time streaming data.
- Lead the development of data APIs and data delivery services to support operational processes, analytical models and machine learning applications.
- Lead the selection and integration of data-related tools, frameworks and applications to expand platform capabilities.
- Implement best practices in enterprise data management, including master data, reference data, metadata, data quality and lineage.
- Participate in Agile source control and release procedures.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences; translate business goals to technical solutions.
- Adopt an iterative, collaborative and transparent approach to building technical solutions and data products.
- Lead and mentor other data engineers to follow engineering best practices.
- Deliver technical solutions that meet business requirements with focus on scalability, stability, efficiency, maintainability and extensibility.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering, or a relevant technical fieldSix years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, data analytics, data warehousing, BI, database administration and data integrationFive years in architecting, building, and administering big data and real-time streaming architectures in on-premises and cloud environments using technologies such as AWS Kinesis, Apache Kafka, Apache SparkFour years in large-scale distributed applications frameworks like Spark, HadoopThree years of Linux operations and shell scriptingThree years of DevOps / DevSecOps and CI / CDStrong understanding of ETL concepts and RESTful APIs for data integrationExperience with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, EMR, EKS, Redshift, Glue, S3, IAM, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.)Cloud networking, security, storage, and compute fundamentalsInfrastructure provisioning with CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.Data modeling experience in NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Cassandra)SQL proficiency for data profiling, analysis and extractionAbility to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly; customer-focused with strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize work to meet tight deadlinesPreferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a technical fieldSoftware development experience in Java, Python, Scala, or Node.jsExperience with data warehousing architecture, source-to-target mappings, and ETL developmentExperience with advanced analytics and ML conceptsExperience with RESTful APIs and microservices using a design-first, reusable approachAWS certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Associate / Professional or AWS Data Engineer)Working Conditions

The salary generally ranges between $130,000 – $160,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate; actual starting pay depends on qualifications, experience, geography, work location (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above or below the stated amounts as permitted by law. This position is typically eligible for an annual bonus based on company bonus plan and individual performance.
