Scope of Position :
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation of processes and equipment for use by engineers, technicians, trades, or operators such as standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and training documents.As a Sr. Technical Writer, you will collaborate with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.) to collect data and information to utilize in developing documentation in a new manufacturing facility.The Sr. Technical Writer will also help to coordinate and train a small group of junior technical writers.Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM field is preferred, but will consider candidates with extensive experience without the degree.Proven experience as a Technical Writer (or in a similar role) in a manufacturing environmentStrong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.Ability to understand complex technical information and translate it for non-technical audiences.Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat or similar documentation software.Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Key Responsibilities :
Coordinating the task and workplan for team members to meet project scheduleProviding hands on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshootingSupport start-up and qualification of equipment.Coordinating installation plan with safety and plant receiversConferring with Corning engineers and vendors to resolve equipment operational and maintenance procedural issues / questions / discrepancies.Ensure safe work practicesUpdating equipment and safety documentationTravel Requirements :
Minimal travel is expected for this role with it being on-site at the Michigan plant.Work Schedule :
Typical 40 hours per week
