With that in mind, our team is being proactive to who might be interested in making a move and or to see what opportunities are out there in the Michigan legal market.
Compensation we anticipate will range between 70,000 to 100,000 but will largely depend upon ones breadth and depth of experience, credentials and total years of experience as well.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and administer Michigan probate estates and guardianship / conservatorship estates.
- Calendar and follow probate deadlines.
- Assist with trust and estate administration, including creation of sub trusts, allocation of assets, and transfers to trusts.
- Draft real estate deeds and other asset title documents.
- Assist with estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, charitable trusts, foundations, durable powers of attorney, health care directives, and asset transfers.
- Draft corporate formation, corporate maintenance, and corporate dissolution documents, including limited partnership agreements and operating agreements.
- Organize and administer irrevocable trusts, charitable foundations, non-profit organizations, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies.
- Prepare and review estate tax returns (Form 706), gift tax returns (Form 709), and non-profit returns.
- Independently use sound judgment and initiative to develop project timelines; monitor critical deadlines.
- Handle file maintenance and organization.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork, and work cooperatively with other departments and individuals in the firm.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys, clients and related parties.
- Track and record time in Intapp to ensure services provided are appropriately charged.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Experience with Michigan probate proceedings required.Undergraduate degree and / or paralegal certificate preferred.3+ years of paralegal experience in the trust and estate planning field required.Familiarity with federal gift and estate returns, tax-exempt organizations, and formation of LLCs, partnerships, and corporations preferred.Current Michigan Notary Public preferred.Pay Details : $70,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
