Overview

Includes library assistants working in the branch libraries whose duties involve greeting and directing patrons, registration of borrowers, charging and discharging of books and other materials, maintaining collections, troubleshooting equipment, and handling administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Branch Librarian, performs duties such as greeting patrons, enforcing policies, managing book circulation, assisting with interlibrary loans, shelving, maintaining bulletin boards, typing, compiling records, operating equipment, and assisting patrons with technology.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, no prior experience required. Must demonstrate tact, good communication skills, dependability, and computer proficiency. Must be a resident of Boston and clear a background check.

Terms

Union / Salary : AFSCME / LA-3; 35 hours / week; full-time; government administration.
