Job Title : Pre-press / Graphics Specialist

Core Hours : 7 : 30am – 4 : 30pm, Monday – Friday. Hours are subject to change based on customer demand.
Note : This role is not a Graphic Design position.
Position Summary
QPI produces innovative and high-quality package designs through collaboration with the design team and clients. The purpose of this position is to facilitate production by preparing press-ready files for a variety of applications, including offset, flexo, and digital (hybrid) printing. The candidate must possess heightened attention to detail, anticipate and troubleshoot print issues, communicate effectively, and accurately prepare AI / PDF files based on print application for samples, proofs, and production. Ability to pivot on projects with little or no notice is a key requirement.
Essential Functions
- Review customer-supplied art files, images, and designs in Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on prepress requirements
- Enter and maintain QPI spec database and prepress spreadsheet
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure parts of the overall design are completed on time
- Use FTP to send / receive large files
- Preapprove art files
- Produce art proofs for jobs and send hard copy or electronic PDFs to customers for approval
- Prepare files for print using internal ripping software
- Assist in prototype packages that require artwork
- Maintain an open mind when discussing portions of the design project
- Modify work schedule based on customer demand
- Assist in maintenance and updates to the design center project list
- Follow and enforce QPI safety policy and procedures
- Place native art files correctly onto QPI internal printing layout
- Communicate effectively when reviewing customer native art files
- Photograph samples for image database (Photoshop)
Qualifications
High skill level using Adobe Creative Suite : Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign (in order of importance)Open to learning new software for various print applicationsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and WordAbility to perform math with emphasis on layoutSelf-starter with ability to prioritize with little directionDemonstrated competencies in job knowledge, quality, communication, dependability, teamwork, initiative, planning and organization, adaptability, project management, judgment, and cost consciousnessCost-consciousness : can work within approved budgets and contribute to efficiencyEducation
