Dental Assistant 1 Or 2
LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Pediatric Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2. These positions are in a Career Progression Group. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Dental Assistant 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). No experience or training required.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to : assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients, maintain and stock cabinet, instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques, chart patients according to LSUSD systems, give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student, give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student, place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student, remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations fixed restorations with hand instruments only as directed by the dentist or student, implement and maintain infection control in the work area, check inventory and order supplies when needed, implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA, know dental terminology, know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments, knowledgeable of computers. Pay is dependent upon applicants' qualifications. There is an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Additional $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
