Position Overview : We have an open locum tenens opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterology Physician in a highly regarded healthcare facility in southern Illinois, near Ashley. This role involves inpatient, call-only coverage, providing critical support to the community and assisting the existing medical team with specialized care. Position Details : Location : Illinois (near Ashley) Start Date : ASAP End Date : Ongoing Schedule : Call-only coverage Holidays : Coverage includes major holidays (New Years Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) Requirements : Board Certification : Required; board eligibility also acceptable Fellowship Training : Required in Gastroenterology Illinois Medical License : Active and unrestricted, or eligible to apply Certifications : ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Required BLS (Basic Life Support) Required Responsibilities : Inpatient Coverage : Hospital-based role with a mix of both general and specialized gastroenterology consults. Patient Volume : Approximately 10 patients per shift, with an average of 3 admissions. Rounding : Both inpatient rounding and admissions are required. Call Type : Beeper call with a 30-minute response time.
