We are looking for a detail-oriented Direct Buyer Specialist to join our team in Chula Vista, California. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of quality products, and supporting purchasing processes to meet organizational goals. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong negotiation skills and expertise in procurement strategies.

Responsibilities :

• Prepare and issue purchase orders while managing supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Oversee cost management, supplier negotiations, and quote preparation to support organizational purchasing objectives.
• Monitor supplier contracts to ensure compliance with agreed-upon terms and performance expectations.
• Participate in program status and production meetings to align procurement activities with organizational goals.
• Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on supplier performance and delivery timelines.
• Develop and implement supplier strategies to enhance delivery efficiency and improve quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, production control, and program leadership to address procurement needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing procurement processes and supplier performance.
• Utilize ERP systems, including SAP R / 3, to manage purchasing and supplier data effectively.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the purchasing function.
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience; alternatively, 9 years of related experience without a degree.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly SAP R / 3, and familiarity with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes.
• Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
• Previous experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
• Demonstrated negotiation and leadership skills with a focus on achieving procurement targets.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
