Lead Dockhand / Trailhand

Come and join the best boating club in the business Your Boat Club! Your Boat Club is seeking a full-time Lead Dockhand / Trailhand for our 2025 boating season at our three Ely locations : Downtown Ely, Silver Rapids Lodge, and Grand Ely Lodge. As a Lead Dockhand / Trailhand, you will help create the best experience for our customers at Your Boat Club and report directly to the Location Manager. This individual will lead the team of dockhands and assist the Location Manager(s) to ensure a successful season.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Leading the team by example.
  • Assisting the Location Manager.
  • Ensuring the boats and ATVs are clean, maintained, and assisting with covering / uncovering for customer use.
  • Logging engine hours and inspecting and reporting damages to rental equipment / ATVs.
  • Carrying customer gear to and from boats and ATVs.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Gassing boats and ATVs.
  • Helping with the end of season tasks like power washing, etc.
  • Listen to and work to resolve member or rental customer issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned with the ability to advance!

Required Skills and Abilities :

As far as necessary skills, the most important one of all is having the ability to provide high-quality customer service :

  • Past lead experience is a plus.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Boating and fueling experience is a huge plus, but we are also willing to train on-site.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Treat members, renters, and guests with respect.
  • Going above and beyond to ensure that everyone has the best experience possible.
  • Being on time, wearing a proper work uniform, and communicating with the Location Manager effectively.
  • Previous experience and knowledge in maintaining, driving, and fueling ATVs are desired, but these skills can and will be trained on the job.
  • Prior knowledge about the area, trail system(s), body of water, etc., is also a plus.

    • Working Conditions :

    The hours available can vary. Much of the job is weather-dependent, so employees may be called off due to inclement weather. You will have the opportunity to work outside at one of our beautiful locations in Ely!

    • Compensation :

    This position starts at $15.00 an hour, plus tips, and may vary based on experience.

Our journey started in 2009 with only five boats by owners Luke Kujawa and Michael Jellish. Today, we boast over 40 locations across four states. Our services include memberships, daily rentals, full marina services, and, at some locations, bike, UTV, and snowmobile rentals. Our main objective is to keep our existing members happy by providing them with exceptional service, superb boats, and great availability.
