Salary Range : $100,000 - $140,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

The Executive Director of Facilities Management and Operations provides strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of all daily campus facilities operations at UCCS. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and sustainable management of university buildings, infrastructure, and grounds, ensuring the delivery of high-quality maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping services. The Executive Director sets clear performance expectations, ensures follow-through, and promotes a culture of accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement. With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, the role integrates sustainability into both daily operations and long-term planning. In close collaboration with university leadership and campus stakeholders, this position aligns operational activities with institutional goals, advances capital and deferred maintenance initiatives, and supports the university's mission through excellence in facilities management.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to :
Oversee the day-to-day operations of campus facilities, including maintenance, custodial services, and groundskeeping, ensuring safe, efficient, and responsive service. Manage emergency response protocols and after-hours service coordination.
Foster a culture of customer service and accountability, ensuring facilities teams are responsive to the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Direct the planning, design, and execution of small in-house repair and renovation projects as assigned. Solicit proposals and purchase orders for repairs and small projects in conformance with university standards.
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive facilities assessment and planning strategy to clearly identify and address deferred maintenance and capital improvement needs on an annual basis.
Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for general and auxiliary-funded facilities.
Supervise, mentor, and support a diverse team of facilities professionals, including both university and classified staff.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess a Bachelor's Degree in facilities management, engineering, architecture, construction, business administration, or a closely related field. You must also have a proven track record of leadership in managing complex facilities operations and maintenance portfolios, with demonstrated success in supervising and developing multidisciplinary teams including maintenance, custodial, and operations staff. Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for tracking work orders, preventive maintenance, and asset management is required. A working knowledge of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance standards at the local, state, and federal levels is necessary. Experience in developing and managing operating and capital budgets and leading cross-functional teams or organizational change initiatives is highly desirable. Experience working with classified personnel and familiarity with public sector human resources practices is preferred. Professional certifications such as Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or Professional Engineer (PE) are highly preferred. A Master's Degree in a related field is highly desirable but not required.
