Responsibilities :

The CICS COBOL Systems Programmer will support Barrow Wise's State of Illinois project and perform the following duties :

Develop and maintain COBOL applications in a CICS environment.
Create custom scripts to efficiently extract and manipulate data, enhancing the functionality of our systems.
Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvements
Troubleshoot and resolve CICS-related issues
Document system configuration and procedures
Export files to EDI X12 format
Ensure software applications meet all performance and security standards
Demonstrate expertise in CICS and COBOL programming
Demonstrate strong expertise in Mainframe IMS (Information Management Systems) and MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage)
Perform maintenance and project tasks for the Department staff.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement software solutions.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal application performance.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
Work remotely, or in Springfield, IL / Rockville, MD

An ideal candidate has the following :

U.S. Citizenship

Bachelor's degree

Minimum five (5) years of experience with CICS and IBM Mainframe systems

Minimum five (5) years of experience with COBOL programming language

Minimum five (5) years of experience with TSO (Time Sharing Option) utility

Minimum five (5) years of experience with PANVALET (revision control and source code management system) utilities

Minimum five (5) years of experience with FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and transferring data from IMS files into EXCEL spreadsheets.

Minimum five (5) years of experience with analysis and system design

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
