The Medication Technician is responsible for safely preparing, administering, and documenting resident medications in accordance with state regulations and community policies. This role supports the wellness and quality of life of residents by ensuring accurate medication management while providing compassionate assistance with daily living needs.
Key Responsibilities :
Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents at scheduled times.
Document medication administration, refusals, and errors per policy and regulatory guidelines.
Monitor residents for side effects or changes in condition and promptly report to nursing staff or supervisor.
Maintain medication carts, storage areas, and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed (e.g., hygiene, mobility, meals).
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare providers to support care plans.
Participate in shift reports, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
Support residents’ independence, dignity, and well-being through respectful, person-centered care.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current Medication Technician certification as required by state regulations.
Previous experience in assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare setting preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Compassionate, dependable, and able to work well as part of a team.
Basic computer and documentation skills.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
