job_description.job_card.job_descriptionAssociate degree or 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent in a scientific related discipline preferred. 1-2 years of experience with general laboratory techniques and data collection preferred. Prior experience working in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Experience with a regulated environment and a general understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and other federal regulations Basic understanding of laboratory operations, study design and the importance of comprehensive data collection Ability to multitask and manage several independent projects within the expected job role Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail Self-starter, able to prioritize work and function efficiently in a team environment with minimal supervision Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and use additional applications. Communication Time-Management Dependability The role will spend approximately 20% in an office setting and 80% in the laboratory. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and / or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms. Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including respirators. Physical activity including lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing / pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping / pinching, standing and ascending ladder without restriction. Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts with short notice.

Role Summary
The Sample Management Technician I will be engaged in ensuring all samples are properly stored, packaged, and shipped to their designated location. This role is also responsible for proper internal and external communication on sample status.
Role Responsibilities
- Create, review, and verify shipping manifest for accuracy
- Communicate and coordinate with vendor / sponsors about shipments
- Ship required samples to sponsor designated facilities in a timely manner
- Properly handle hazardous materials according to NBR, OSHA and MIOSHA guidelines
- Operate lab equipment and perform routine maintenance, as needed
- Maintain and clean laboratory spaces and equipment
- Review data and records for completeness and ensure Standard Operating Procedures are followed
- Other duties as assigned
