job_description.job_card.job_descriptionApplicants for this position must successfully complete and pass the eligibility requirements for registration under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E Act), which requires Federal Registration under the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Applicants at the minimum must furnish the Registry with information concerning the applicant’s identity including : (1) Fingerprints for submission to the FBI and any other relevant governmental state agency for a State and national criminal history and background check; and (2) personal history and experience including authorization for the Registry to obtain information related to any administrative, civil or criminal findings by governmental jurisdiction. Failure to successfully pass the Registry background screening requirements could result in loss of position and / or employment. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, related field or equivalent work experience. Extensive and detailed knowledge of real estate mortgage lending laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to both primary and secondary markets. Ability to analyze applicant’s credit risk (the 4 C’s of underwriting, capacity, capital, collateral and credit) and perform income analysis for self-employed borrowers. Strong working knowledge of all loan origination, and maintenance software. Ability to understand and use secondary market automated underwriting system in conjunction with credit union software. Friendly, outgoing manner, ability to deal with members with tact and courtesy and maintain professional demeanor in all situations. Ability to operate a personal computer with a high level of proficiency in such software applications as word processing, spreadsheets, internet and email. Ability to operate a fax, calculator and copier. Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative with a willingness to support others within the Credit Union. Ability to write and speak effectively. Ability to effectively communicate credit union products and services in order to cross-sell and train staff. What You’ll Do :
- Generate prospective mortgage loan applicants.
- Provide expertise and guidance to members and potential members on mortgage loan products and opportunities. Provides product expertise and support as needed to branch team partners.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of available mortgage loan products
- Collect appropriate documentation from borrowers to successfully complete the mortgage loan approval process
- Manage pipeline for mortgage loan origination through approval and closing
- Maintain high level of customer service and provide updates to the customer during the mortgage loan process
- Effectively work a referral network to grow a portfolio of customers
