Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro skills, previous travel experience, and a KY or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the ICU unit of a hospital setting
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours) from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM
  • Required to work 3-4 weekend shifts per month, either Friday or Saturday night
  • Nurse to patient ratios range from 1 : 1 to 1 : 2+
  • Patient population includes post-surgical neuro, multi-system organ failure, and vented patients
  • Floating to different units may be required
  • Experience with airway, vent, artline, central line, and dysrhythmia management needed
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Responsibilities include management of vented patients, airway, central and artline management, IV drips, continuous sedation, and care for multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Experience with cases such as fempops, CEAs, post thoracic surgeries, post cranial, and neurosurgeries is preferred
  • Modules and annual online training completed during orientation
  • Return staff must wait 2 years before being eligible to travel
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

    • Requirements

  • Active KY or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of recent ICU experience; 2 years of total experience required
  • Strong neuro ICU experience is mandatory
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Ability to interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias and titrate IV vasopressors
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from facility for traveler eligibility
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Submission requires copy of driver's license and SSN
