Description :

Provides professional nursing care to patients housed in state-operated facilities.

Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients.

Makes nursing rounds and records vital signs.

Prepares and administers prescribed medications and ordered treatment plans.

Monitors patients requiring restraints and provides immediate medical attention in emergencies.

Participates in staff development and education.

Reviews care plans written by staff and trains new employees.

Responsible for all health care of bedridden patients as needed.

Performs specialized procedures, including IV therapy, wound care, and CPR.

Organizes and oversees emergency response teams.

Acts as lead worker on assigned shifts and assists physicians in evaluations.

Performs clerical tasks such as documenting medications and treatments.

Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations.

Maintains constant inventory of controlled drugs and medical supplies.

Serves as a liaison with other departments and conducts meetings.

Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to nursing is required.

Skill in operating medical equipment is essential.

Ability to write concise and accurate reports is necessary.

Physical fitness is required for the role.
