About this position : We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator with strong AWS cloud expertise. This role is responsible for managing, optimizing, and migrating Oracle databases in Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will be skilled in leveraging Amazon RDS for Oracle and AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise databases. This role requires close collaboration with development, DevOps, and architecture teams to support mission-critical workloads in the cloud.
Salary Range : 115k-135k - Commensurate with candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
On a day-to-day basis, you will :
- Provisioning & Configuration : Create, configure, and manage Oracle RDS instances, including instance sizing, storage, networking (VPC, subnets, security groups), and parameter groups.
- Performance Optimization : Monitor and tune database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and query analysis. Implement indexing, SQL tuning, and caching strategies to optimize workloads.
- High Availability & DR : Design and implement HA and disaster recovery solutions, including Multi-AZ deployments, automated backups, snapshots, and failover strategies.
- Security & Compliance : Enforce security best practices by managing access controls, database users, roles, and encryption with AWS KMS and IAM policies.
- Monitoring & Alerting : Configure CloudWatch dashboards, alarms, and notifications for proactive health monitoring.
- Maintenance & Upgrades : Perform patching, version upgrades, and routine maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and compliance.
Database Migration (AWS DMS & SCT)
Migration Planning : Develop and execute strategies for migrating on-premises Oracle databases (or other engines) to AWS RDS. Use DMS Fleet Advisor for readiness assessments.Replication & Data Movement : Configure and monitor AWS DMS tasks for full load migrations and ongoing CDC (Change Data Capture).Troubleshooting & Validation : Diagnose migration issues (connectivity, data validation, performance bottlenecks) and ensure data integrity.Post-Migration Support : Optimize and support databases after cutover to ensure stability and efficiency.Required Education / Qualifications :
Clearance : Top Secret security clearance fully adjudicated.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related fieldOracle Expertise : Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle database administration, architecture, backup / recovery, and performance tuning.Certifications : CompTIA Security+AWS Experience : At least 3+ years of experience with AWS RDS for Oracle, AWS DMS, and SCT; strong knowledge of core services (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation / Terraform).Migration Skills : 3+ years of demonstrated success migrating enterprise-scale Oracle databases to AWS cloud environments.Automation & Scripting : 3-5 years of proficiency with scripting languages (SQL / PL / SQL, Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation and operational efficiency.Soft Skills : Strong analytical problem-solving ability, excellent communication, and a collaborative mindset for working across teams.Preferred Qualifications :
AWS Certified Database - Specialty or equivalent certifications preferred.Exposure to DevOps practices and CI / CD pipelines for database changes.Knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and integrating on-premises systems with AWS.Familiarity with compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, CMMC, SOC 2, etc.) relevant to government and regulated industries.Please Note : We maintain an on-camera policy for all virtual company meetings to foster engagement and collaboration.
