Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med-Surg / ER position on night shifts, requiring ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in a combined Med-Surg and Emergency Room unit within an acute care setting
  • Unit has up to 12 beds with an average census of 3-6 patients, possibly increasing to 10
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 4-5 with a team nursing model
  • Requires floating to the ER as needed
  • Night shifts are 12 hours, 7 : 00 pm - 6 : 30 am
  • Every third weekend coverage is required (Friday through Sunday)
  • Holidays are rotated with permanent staff based on assigned weekend rotation
  • Uses MEDITECH 6.1 EMR for charting
  • Daily duties include caring for both med-surg and swing bed patients, and responding to higher acuity needs as necessary
  • Team nursing is practiced with close collaboration between the floor nurse and charge nurse
  • Applicants must wear navy blue scrubs; fleeces are not permitted, but similar outer shells such as North Face jackets are acceptable
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this assignment

  • Active IA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting EKG strips
  • Experience working with Med-Surg and swing bed patients is preferred
