Position to serve as Optometrist on Mobile Clinic and Occasional Clinic

Qualifications / Licensure
Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties :
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.)California LicenseBilingual English / Spanish (preferred)Proficient Microsoft Office and Excel (familiarity with medical terminology)EHR- Electronic Health Record (Preferred)PMS- Practice Management System (Preferred)Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertiseAbility to convey a warm, caring attitude for patients while representing the best interest of SJCHBLS certifiedBoard certified or Board eligibleEmployees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications as required by job function or by law and provide Verification and re-certification when requested by management.Responsibilities
Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties :
Performs examinations of the internal and external structure of the eyes and eye health; testing patient's visual acuity, depth and color perception, and ability to focus and coordinate the eyes; administering medication to aid in diagnosing diseases and disorders.Develops treatment plans by analyzing test results; establishing diagnoses, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disorders; systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes; and vision conditions including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.Treats patients by explaining condition and treatment options; prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses; providing vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation; prescribing and administering medications.Treats special problems by referring patients to specialists.Documents patient care by charting patient condition and treatment in records.Maintains safe, clean, and healthy working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Ensures proper operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.Develops staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.Maintain current knowledge-base and appropriate licensureAdditional Requirements :
Must be comfortable working in a mobile setting at various school sites; this includes Brick and Mortar.Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel between Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties as needed.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events.Enjoys working with school-aged children.Possess high tolerance for ambiguity and change.St. John’s Community Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
