Position description

Applicants are invited to apply for a specialist position at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Department of Psychology. This is a full-time position for those with a strong interest in digital mental health, especially the development and evaluation of brief interventions. Level (assistant to full) is flexible and will be dependent on the applicant's background, experience, and qualifications. Specialists will work in the TEchnology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, directed by Dr. Stephen Schueller, which explores how technology can be used in the treatment and management of mental health and can improve the delivery of mental health services.

The Specialist will work on a Templeton-funded project, "Addressing Risks in Online Spaces with Character Development through Digital Micro-Interventions", which aims to develop brief interventions for adolescents in various online spaces including online gaming, EdTech, and social media. This project focuses on development and early evaluation.

Job responsibilities include project management, collaborating and coordinating with project stakeholders, managing institutional review board (IRB) protocols, regulatory approval, monitoring critical project timelines, financial tracking, data collection, data management, preparing reports, and working with additional team members and undergraduate students. The position will afford opportunities for preparing scientific presentations and contributing to manuscripts.

This is an ideal position for applicants with a strong interest in digital mental health, with opportunities in human-centered design, community-engaged research, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. The specialist will contribute to scientific publications and presentations, data analysis, preparing scientific outputs, conducting mixed-methods data collection. Strong experience in qualitative research, design and evaluation, analytic, writing, and communication skills are emphasized. Applicants with master's or doctorate degrees in psychology, public health, informatics, or related fields are invited to apply.
