Position Summary :The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats residents, communicates with families, physicians, and other health team members and maintains documentation of services in the medical record. Conducts in-services and training for facility staff on an ongoing basis in restorative techniques.
- Essential Job Functions :
- Evaluate residents based upon the physician referral.
- Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from referring physician.
- Treat residents according to the treatment plan.
- Screen residents based upon identified need.
- Perform tests, measurements, and evaluations, such as instrumental activities of daily living, psychosocial, cognition and leisure / vocational and functional activities / ADL's, range of motion, manual muscle tests, posture control, sensation, coordination, neuromuscular control, visual perception and home management.
- Record daily treatment charges, per approved billing guidelines.
- Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding resident progress, problems and plans.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Supervisory Responsibility :
- Assist the Director of Rehabilitation in hiring and orienting new physical therapy staff
- Provide input to the Director of Rehabilitation on performance appraisals for therapy / clinical associates.
- Supervise all clinical responsibilities.
- Education / Experience / Training :
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Two years' experience as a Therapist is preferred.
