Core Competencies EKG
Inputs information into cardiac equipment correctly.
Applies and connects electrodes correctly and efficiently.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Follows department equipment sterilization and cleaning procedures.
Maintains inventory of supplies in designated carts in Nursing, RT, and EKG areas.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of all departmental forms, flow charts, log books, and their proper
usage.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities
as performed on patients of varying ages, including infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
patients.
Performs 12 lead EKGs on all age groups of patients with appropriate age specific
application / considerations.
Is competent in determining life threatening arrhythmias.
Is able to identify cardiac dysrhythmias and the root causes of such.
Can perform treadmill hook-up accurately.
Is able to administer a cardiac stress test procedure accurately with physician present.
Provides patient education with regards to cardiac services / treatments rendered.
Charge accurately and in a timely fashion for those services rendered to patients.
