We are seeking a detail-oriented Utility Coordinator to join our South and North Carolina Utilities Team in Columbia, SC. This role involves coordinating utility relocation efforts for roadway and bridge improvement projects during the planning and design phases. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has experience working with utility companies and transportation agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze survey data, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) plans, and other topographical or utility design information.
  • Organize, verify, and ensure the accuracy of design information from multiple utility sources.
  • Evaluate whether utility designs meet or exceed project specifications.
  • Conduct and participate in meetings to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Prepare utility plans and associated documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with utility companies, DOTs, counties, and municipal agencies.
  • Travel approximately 10% of the time for project-related activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong oral, written, and technical communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, and other design software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (advanced education preferred).
  • 2-4+ years of related experience in utility coordination or design.
  • Experience with the South Carolina DOT (SCDOT) is required.

    • Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Advanced education or technical certifications in engineering, construction management, or related fields.
  • Utility coordination or construction inspection experience in South or North Carolina, specifically with SCDOT or NCDOT.
