Overview
Accountable for planning, implementation, and monitoring company compliance with OSHA, safety, and environmental standards to ensure a safe and healthy work throughout the company.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement health and safety plans in the company according to legal guidelines.
- Ensure full compliance with current and developing HSE legislation (federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, rules, and trends).
- Ensure OSHA standards and proper documentation are being maintained regarding safety, inspections, audits, risk assessments, monitor maintenance PMs, record keeping on machines, equipment, forklifts, Haz-Waste, etc.
- Maintain safety supplies / related materials (Eye Wash, Respirator masks, PPE).
- Ensure prompt investigations and reporting of any accidents, incidents or near misses, with follow-up corrective action plans.
- Responsible for all phases of training and development of staff for health and safety matters (new hire, initial, annual and refresher) as required for employees in safety, policies, and procedures.
- Provide support and guidance with leadership and internal / external customers to prepare, implement and maintain a positive health and safety culture within the organization. Ensure that relationships with pertinent governing and advisory groups are maintained.
- Responsible for annual vehicle inspections and compliance with DOT on company vehicles.
- Follow up and compliance with DNR for all required employees.
- Direct safety program including regular safety committee and ERT meetings, general understanding, OSHA compliance and other regulatory compliance. Review safety metrics.
- Keep EHS Policy and Procedures, and GHS sheets current and updated.
- Work with insurance companies, contractors and vendors as needed.
- Work with all staff to ensure they have all PPE, safety equipment and machinery in proper working condition to do their job.
- Work with leadership to document and evaluate employee safety performance issues that arise in the company and assist with the disciplinary process.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Three (3) years' experience preferred in HSE experience preferred.Requires excellent computer skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel.Possess strong verbal and written communications skills. Problem-solving abilities and comfortable working in a team environment; ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful interacting with co-workers, managers and others in a professional and courteous manner.Demonstrates strong planning and organization skills with attention to detail and hands-on ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to work independently.Maintain an elevated level of confidentiality & privacy.Previous HSE experience in manufacturing environment preferred.Experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT standards.Hands on and detail oriented.Recognize potential safety hazards and safeguard a safe working environment.Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
