Landscaping Manager

The Landscaping Manager oversees landscape projects; annual maintenance, the staff, and contractors who perform the work. Job responsibilities include meeting with management to develop or refine plans for maintenance and projects, including lawn maintenance, grading improvement, landscape lighting, irrigation, annual seeding and fertilizing, annual planting and drainage repair. Other job duties include estimating costs and negotiating prices for plants.
The Landscaping Manager is responsible for managing all land maintenance and projects in a sustainable and responsible manner. They coordinate the procurement and scheduled use of resources such as labor, equipment, and materials to ensure maximum use and completion of work within budget, safety guidelines and quality standards. This requires monitoring of the work being completed and the efficient creation of punch lists for closing out projects. In addition, the Landscaping Manager guides and mentors field staff and assists them in carrying out their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In cooperation with management, develop and execute annual maintenance processes, including planting, insect and weed control, compost top dressing, seeding, fertilizing, soil maintenance, ornamental tree health and maintenance, trail maintenance, irrigation and landscape lighting maintenance.
- Order needed landscape supplies as determined by annual maintenance plan.
- Plan and execute landscaping equipment preventive maintenance on a daily, weekly and annual basis in cooperation with management, mechanic and farm team.
- Perform scheduling and oversight of landscaping crew from morning prep to end-of-day close-out.
- Conduct job site planning and phasing to complete jobs to a high standard and on-budget.
- Provide effective ongoing communication and updates to management and staff.
- Facilitate comprehensive job-related and safety training and supervision of staff members and their equipment.
- Coach and develop Team Members while leading by example.
- Organize all paperwork for payroll, material tracking and billing.
- Expedite job close-outs with immediate walk throughs and punch list items.
- Assist in the removal of invasive plant species.
- Assist in other areas and projects as directed.
Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership abilityExtensive knowledge of plants, environmental issues and landscaping tools including Heavy EquipmentWorking knowledge of plant life cycles and health issuesCompetency in the use of equipment and tools, which may range from large earth-moving machines to sprayers and hand toolsAbility to install and repair irrigation systems and navigate web-based irrigation platformsAbility to install and repair low voltage landscape lightingProficient with computers, handheld devices, scheduling software and paperwork processingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with installation of hardscape and landscape projects and related trades including Electrical, Plumbing and CarpentryDemonstrated ability to plan, think ahead and be prepared to start each day strong and close out projectsDemonstrated organizational and planning skillsTechnical landscape knowledge to train for the tasks and plan the workflow of landscape maintenance jobsA successful candidate will be strategic and have a strong business sense realizing how their actions contribute to the bottom lineA successful candidate will be motivated by a desire to win as a team and raise team members to their full potentialAbility to lift 50 lbs. multiple times a dayEducation
