About The Position

Must-Have :

  • 2 years of experience as a Telemetry Nurse
  • Cardiac drip experience
  • NIH stroke assessment experience
  • Post catheterization recovery experience
  • Chest tube experience

Description :

The department has a total of 27 beds, with plans to add 10 more in June.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4.

Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction, ST elevation myocardial infarction, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, coronary artery disease, renal failure, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and post catheterization lab patients.

Staff will not pull sheaths but ideally should have experience with TR bands and femoral stops.

Nurses are required to read and document patient data every 6 hours.

Familiarity with SpaceLab monitors is important, and the unit is transitioning to Philips monitors.

There are both charge nurses and house supervisors available, and they do not take patients.

Nurse aides are present on the unit, with a ratio of 1 : 8 or 1 : 9.

Respiratory therapists manage equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen.

Scheduled shifts run from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM.

Flexibility with scheduling is important, as travelers will fill needed slots.

Weekend and holiday work requirements are expected, as travelers will be needed to fill those shifts.

There is no on-call or standby requirement.

Staff may float to similar units or medical / surgical areas if necessary.

Scrub colors are flexible as long as they are clean, well-kept, and professional.

A department-specific orientation is provided, which includes system onboarding and two shifts of orientation.

Candidates must be outside a specified radius to ensure compliance with location rules.
