JOB OVERVIEW :

The QA Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing test tools, contributing to automation strategies, and overseeing performance testing to ensure scalable and reliable software delivery. This role includes managing test environments to support consistent, stable, and efficient testing across all phases of development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle and drive continuous improvement. The position also contributes to shaping the future vision of QA practices through innovation, metrics-driven insights, and strategic planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Automated Test and Performance Test Oversight & Strategy :

  • Works with leadership to drive QA enterprise strategy
  • Identifying suitable test cases for automation, designing and documenting test automation strategies. Gathering non-functional requirements, analyzing critical business scenarios, understanding service level agreement (SLA) -objectives and creating comprehensive performance test strategies and plans.
  • Has expertise with a variety of industry tools, strong technical skills with script development, review and maintenance using various scripting languages, building automation frameworks to support different testing layers (UI, API, database). Performance scripting using tools like LoadRunner, JMeter, incorporating features such as parameterization, checkpoints, transactions, and reusable functions.
  • Serve as backup and escalation to team of performance test engineers and automation analysts.

Test Environment Management :

  • Setting up and configuring necessary test environments including allocation, configuration management, and ensuring production like environments in lower instances.

    • Tool Administration :

  • Ensure tool administration and maintenance across the QA function including automated and performance test tools, Mobile Center, upkeep of servers used by QA ensuring enterprise level consistency.

    • Collaboration & Communication :

  • Working closely with product teams to understand requirements, application architecture to ensure software quality. -Working closely with developers and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues, and implement solutions.
  • Work hand in hand with a team of onsite and offshore team focused on performance and automated test development and execution. Perform script review and provide feedback / coaching to team members and partners to ensure standards are upheld throughout automated & performance test activities.

    • Continuous Improvement :

  • Staying updated on industry trends, tools, Gen AI influence on automation techniques and performance testing methodologies, and continuously improving existing tests and processes.

    • REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software test engineering, automation scripting and performance testing.
  • Experience in working with contract / external resources for software testing and reporting
  • Experience in test automation strategy and development
  • OpenText tool administrator experience (ALM, UFT, LoadRunner)
  • Thorough understanding of development and testing life cycles (SDLC / STLC)

    • REQUIRED EDUCATION :

  • BS / BA in MIS, Computer Science, Business or Mathematics.
