Position Overview : Are you eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects like first-of-their-kind small modular nuclear reactors or intricate facilities that bolster our national security mission? Kiewit is seeking top talent to help construct these critical projects upon which our nation's future relies.
As a Field Engineer , you are the construction site engineering resource and expertise throughout the construction of a project. You will be responsible for interpreting designs, adjusting designs to meet site conditions per protocol, managing technical issues, performing quality inspections, monitoring technical submittals, and ensuring configuration management. With your engineering discipline focus, you will support construction supervision and final technical approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications. You will make decisions regarding methods independently, and working with the Construction Managers, apply financial commitment authority for field changes. You will be responsible for completing assigned tasks under minimal supervision and technical direction.
Location
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions, headquartered in Lenexa, KS, manages projects and operates offices across the US. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate as necessary. Specific project assignments and locations will be determined closer to the start date. Field engineers may rotate between field and office work.
Responsibilities
Provides technical support in all phases of estimating, construction formation, project execution, testing / inspection, and project closeout.Maintains records of installed quantities and completed construction work.Participates in obtaining any required permits / clearances, lockouts, Escort Agreements, and work authorizations prior to commencing work on site.Performs verification of work in progress to ensure safety, quality (technical drawings and specifications), environmental control, workmanship, and schedule requirements are met.Assists in the preparation of procedures, administrative and technical documents.May prepare / approve purchase requisitions for materials and services.Review Lessons Learned and collaborate with corporate personnel and other corporate partner projects.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fieldAptitude in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure their completeness and constructabilityAbility to effectively communicate engineering solutions verbally and in writing for management, customers, peers, and craft personnelAptitude for conducting field verifications of construction work to oversee, facilitate, and enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes and standardsAptitude in collaborative problem solving to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field as the liaison between design engineers and the constructorDemonstrated knowledge of basic construction engineering principlesKnowledge of construction safetyStrong attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepanciesStrong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done rightEligibility for this position requires sole US citizenship; the successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship to obtain badge access to the siteCandidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirementsAll employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employmentMust be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicableOther Requirements
