Insurance Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY : Responsible for the coordination of verification of all medical insurance and clerical support services to the billing department
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Generates daily schedule and reviews verification notes to ascertain the date of last verification.
- Verifies patients insurance coverage, demographics and coordinates with Referral Coordinator when a referral is needed.
- Maintains insurance verification spreadsheet for all verifications that reveal a lapse in coverage and or private pay.
- Documents standard verification information in the collection notes and notifies the admissions manager and / or branch coordinator of any irregularities and / or special benefits.
- Provides clerical support to the billing office to include, filing, pulling, and coping EOBs for collections staff.
QUALIFICATIONS : High school degree or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience in insurance verification, referrals, co-payment collection, billing and customer service. 1-2 years experience in medical billing software and ability to balance and close cash drawer is also required.
